Merger in 2012

Bering Select Seafoods Company will merge into its parent company, Clipper Seafoods, Ltd., as of January 1, 2012. Please note that our business and personnel will remain unchanged, and we will continue to operate at the same location in Seattle. Clipper Seafoods has controlled the ownership of Bering Select since Bering Select was started in 1992.

Clipper Seafoods, Ltd. is a large holder of fishing rights for Alaska cod in the Bering Sea, and it owns and operates six longline catcher-processor vessels. Clipper manages a seventh longline catcher-processor vessel for the account of Siu Alaska Corporation.

We will have a new web site at clipperseafoods.com, launching around January 9th. Check it out!

Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Certification

The MSC was founded in 1997 by the World Wildlife Fund and Unilever as a way to reward responsibly managed fisheries around the world. Today, the organization is independent of its founders, with headquarters offices in London and regional offices around the world. The MSC is an accreditation body that accredits independent certification bodies to assess applicant fisheries and determine whether they meet the MSC’s principles and criteria for sustainable fishing. Through its certification and eco-labeling program, the MSC uses market-based incentives to encourage responsibly managed fisheries around the world. Visit www.msc.org for more information.
