Bering Select Omega-3 Research Archive

By Jorn Dyerberg MD

The most significant chapter in the history of Omega-3 fatty acid research was created by Danish cardiologist Jorn Dyerberg MD and his associate Hans Bang. Dyerberg and Bang in the 1970s are credited with bringing the importance of omega-3 fatty acids to the forefront of biomedical research, particularly in relation to cardiovascular health.

Their work focused on the Greenland Inuit population, who had a diet high in marine fats (fish and seal) and exhibited a low incidence of coronary artery disease. This led them to investigate the potential health benefits of omega-3s, specifically EPA and DHA, found in these marine sources. From there, the research has ballooned into over 10,000 studies regarding the impact of Omega-3 on brain and eye health, inflammation, fetal development, mood disorders, and much more.

Dr. Dyerberg has provided our group with a curated list of studies that were conducted in a sound scientific manner. Every study in our archive presents reliable, fact based conclusions.

The team at Bering Select is hopeful that the wealth of research contained in this archive will help our customers to transmit accurate and substantiated health statements based on solid and reliable science.
